Carers Week 2020: Free events for Carers

This year, the theme for Carers Week is #makingcaringvisisble. To support this movement, we have asked our MPs to support Carers Week by officially pledging to stand up for carers. You can also sign the pledge here, and together we can make a difference!


All Week

What: Art exhibition by Creative Carers Collective More info: The Hackney Creative Carers Collective have been meeting up remotely for Art Group during Covid19, and put on a virtual exhibition of their artwork. How to join: View the exhibition on the Creative Carers Collective website

What: Virtual Cuppas by Mobilise When: Everyday this week at 4pm More info: Carers coming together for supportive chats to share practical tips and tricks, and sometimes just to vent How to join: Sign up on the Mobilise website

What: Carers Bake Off Bonanza by Wandsworth Carers More info: With prizes up for grabs and a Professional pastry chef as the judge, it’s a win win. There is no limit to what baked good this can be, as long as the tasty treat is baked and not just cooked. How to join: To enter, send a picture of your baked good to hannah@wandsworthcarers.org.uk. You can send more than one picture of the baked treat, but you are only allowed one entrance per person.

Tuesday 9th

What: Chat with Author Kate Mosse OBE about her work and being a carer When: 1.30–2.15 pm More info: Kate Mosse talks about her role as a carer for her mother-in-law, shares a mini tour of her creative workspace, insights into what she’s currently working on, and how she is adapting to working online whilst caring How to join: Register on the Society of Authors website

Wednesday 10th

What: Care for Me Workshop with Wandsworth Carers When: 1–2 pm More info: Wellbeing workshop to help you maintain good mental health and a healthy lifestyle: positive coping strategies, ways to express and manage feelings in a constructive way, self-care skills. What: ‘I might be a carer, but I’m still creative’ with Not a Care in the World When: 11am-12.30pm More info: Led by Nick Llewellyn, theatre director and NLP trainer, this is a workshop on how to unlock your own blocks to have some ‘me’ time for creativity. Friday 12th

What: Know Your Rights Workshop by Not a Care in the World When: 2–3pm More info: In this online workshop, we will explore the Carers Act and Carers rights so you are armed with knowledge to assert your rights. Led by Jill Pay How to join: RSVP through the Not a Care in the World website
